Towards the end of 2023, we successfully completed a major project for Frasers Group at the Metrocentre in Gateshead. The project involved the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing work for three openings: Sports Direct, Flannels, and Everlast Gym, which saw the transformation of the former Debenhams department store into a busy, modern retail and fitness space.
This 12-month-long project was a testament to our dedication, expertise, and commitment to delivering high-quality, sustainable solutions. With 25,000 man-hours invested in the project, we ensured seamless integration across the three spaces and contributed to the successful launch of some of Frasers Group’s most impressive locations in the UK.
We took on the challenge of transforming the former Debenhams department store into three distinct spaces: Sports Direct, Flannels, and Everlast Gym. The project involved installing 136 air conditioning units, seven AHUs, and over 10,000 metres of copper pipework and 5,000 metres of containment. To further improve energy efficiency, the entire system was fully integrated to BMS. We also delivered a state-of-the-art heat recovery heat pump technology to provide hot water throughout the facilities, eliminating the need for gas on site.
Seeing the transformation of the 50,000 sq ft Sports Direct and Flannels stores, and the 37,000 sq ft Everlast Gym, now the largest hybrid gym in the UK, was a proud moment for the team.
